In the spring of 1969, the neighborhood association got the idea of hosting a tour of the restored and available housing in Lafayette Square. Tickets were $1.00 each, refundable with the purchase of a property. The second year drew 800 and the third 5,000.
These parlor, or whole house, or garden tours have continued through the years, now forming the largest single source of revenue for the association. Each tour has a distinctive poster to remind visitors of the occasion. Below is a nearly complete collection of the poster images.
